· Exit steward designated for evacuation drills, with an assistant designated to check toilets & kitchen during evacuation. · Hall hirers are required to have their own evacuation procedures and to hold periodic drills. · Main exit route is via front door. Step is marked with hi-viz tape and a ‘Mind the Step’ notice. · Subsidiary exit route via (inward opening) back door. The door should be unbolted and unlocked, and the flood barrier removed, when the building is occupied. Step is marked with hi-viz tape. · Emergency light in main hall is plugged in to socket beneath whiteboard. When power is switched on, light comes on automatically if power fails. · Occupants with disabilities have a designated emergency helper. · Young children have a designated helper (a parent, or a person approved by a parent)

Medium | · Musical & other equipment, when not in use, is either stored in lockable cupboards or kept tidily in the main hall. Percussion equipment is kept behind moveable screens.
· Players are responsible for keeping their music stands etc. from becoming a hazard to other players during rehearsals. · Young players’ use of music stands etc. is supervised by parents or adult players present. · The bandroom’s folding chairs will be left in place during evacuations: they are easy to move if necessary. |

Medium | · Players are responsible for keeping their instrument cases, coats etc., as far as possible, from becoming a hazard or an obstacle to movement, for other players.
· In the event of an emergency evacuation, or during an evacuation drill, adult players will as far as possible take their instruments with them, to lessen congestion & trip hazards. · Young players may be instructed by the adult in charge of the rehearsal or event, to take their instruments with them or to leave them behind, according to the circumstances at the time. |

· Band members, parents & carers are required to notify the Band’s Health & Safety representative (in confidence) of health risks including allergies and asthma. · Smoking, vaping and cooking are not permitted in the bandroom. · Horseplay and unruly behaviour by young players or other bandroom occupants is strongly discouraged. · Hazardous cleaning products are kept in a lockable cupboard in the kitchen under the supervision of the bandroom caretaker. |
